The mother and sister of an Indiana sheriff's deputy who was fatally shot in 2016 were attacked in a courthouse Monday.
Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz died two years ago after he was shot while attempting to serve a warrant in Russiaville.
His sister, Alice, 27, and their mother, 54-year-old
Jackie, were in the Howard County Courthouse in Kokomo for a paternity
hearing when a man identified as Bryson Small, 36, allegedly assaulted
them, Fox 59 reported.
Witnesses reportedly said Small was walking toward the
Koontzs when he attacked them. The women were knocked to the floor and
hit several times, officials said.Bystanders helped the women, according to WRTV, and also helped deputies stop Small.
The Koontzs both suffered facial and head injuries, and
Alice was knocked unconcious. She was hospitalized to be treated for
her injuries.
A baby, Amelia Koontz, was in a carrier but not injured in the incident.
Small reportedly approached the two "to answer questions about the case," but it remains unclear why he attacked the women.
He was booked at the the Howard County Jail on felony assault charges.
An attacker sucker punched a 5-year-old boy on the New York City subway, police said.
(NYPD)
Police are hunting for a man who
approached a 5-year-old boy riding the New York City subway and punched
him in the face as the child’s mother was standing next to him.
The unidentified man was on the G
train just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday when he attacked the boy who was
standing next to his mother, police said. The train was approaching the
Bergen Street station in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill neighborhood.
The man then taunted the child before fleeing the train when the doors opened at the station.
It’s unclear what provoked the attack. Police sources told the New York Daily News the attacker yelled at the boy, “Are you going to cry to ya’ mommy?”
The boy suffered bruising and swelling to the left side
of his face. He was taken to the hospital, treated for his injuries and
later released.
Police shared photos that a witness snapped of the
alleged attacker. The suspect was described as a man about 6 feet tall,
160 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and mustache.

Run the Jewels' Killer Mike Defends Gun Ownership in NRATV Interview
Killer Mike defended gun ownership and criticized National Walkout Day and anti-bullying campaigns in a new interview with NRATV.
Although the Run the Jewels rapper usually sides with progressive issues – he aligned with Bernie Sanders in 2016 – Killer Mike took a surprising stand on the subject of the Second Amendment in the interview with host Colion Noir (via Pitchfork).

As hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets Saturday for
March for Our Lives, the rapper stated that he didn't agree with the
anti-gun protests or the need for stricter gun control laws.
"There was something that the woman who is the NRA spokesperson [Dana
Loesch] said and everybody just kinda lost it… Dana says that the tears
of white mothers are like ratings. And that's so true and it was so sad
to hear her acknowledge it, but it's true, and black people know it's
true," Killer Mike said, adding of the black community, "You're not

Killer Mike also relayed an anecdote where a fellow musician was
being pressured to do an anti-gun campaign and called upon the rapper to
handle the situation through discourse.
"Very simply: I'm African-American. You know, 54 years out of
apartheid. I'm very pro-Second Amendment, this is why," the rapper said.
"And before you say 'What about the children,' my daughter goes to

Killer Mike's Run the Jewels partner El-P offered an opposing
viewpoint on Twitter, criticizing Noir for suggesting that no one would
know the names of the protesting Marjory Stoneman Douglas students if
their classmates hadn't died.
"They didn't want to be known they wanted to be kids. and they've

The
report includes video that shows a nude man, allegedly Jones, having a
confrontation in a hallway with another man identified as his brother Cayleb Jones, a wide receiver signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
