Dog groomer charged with ‘horrific’ cruelty of veteran’s service animal, sheriff says

Eric Rogers,USA TODAY Tue, Feb 26 12:02 PM CST
MELBOURNE, Fla. — A Florida dog groomer was arrested Monday after officials said he maimed a local veteran's service dog, breaking the animal's tail so badly it had to be amputated.

James Corell Suthann, 37, was charged with one count of animal cruelty and released from the Brevard County Jail Monday on $2,000 bail.

The charge stems from a Feb. 6 incident, captured on video at Groomingdales Pet Spa in Satellite Beach, Florida, where Suthann worked as a contract employee.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Suthann became angry with an 8-year-old German shepherd when it wouldn't stand still for grooming.

Ivey said the video showed Suthann strapping the dog's head down so tightly it couldn't move before lifting the animal off the ground by its tail, twisting the tail and breaking it. At the end of the video, Ivey said, Suthann struck the dog in the head with a hose nozzle.

The tail was broken so badly it had to be removed, Ivey said.

James Cordell Suthann, 37, was charged with animal cruelty after Sheriff's officials said he broke a service's dogs tail so badly it had to be amputated.
In a statement on social media, Ivey called the acts "horrific."

"The video is so graphic that I will not post it to Facebook, but trust me when I tell you, that it is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to watch in my 39 years of law enforcement," he said.

The German shepherd, named "T.T.," belongs to a disabled veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Ivey said.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey and Satellite Beach Police Chief Jeff Pearson personally walked Suthann into jail Monday. Suthann, 37, was charged with animal cruelty after Ivey said he maimed a disabled veteran's service dog.
"The owner was devastated by the acts of cruelty against his pet and companion," he said.
"Unfortunately, the maximum bond that could be placed on Suthann was $2,000, because they don’t let me personally set the bond amounts for criminals like this guy!"

Ivey and Satellite Beach Police Chief Jeff Pearson personally walked Suthann into the jail Monday afternoon, Ivey said.

Ivey said Groomingdales' owners had no knowledge Suthann was capable of cruelty and immediately fired him after learning about the incident.

Man, woman arrested at Florida airport after luggage dispute delays flight, injures deputies

Man, woman arrested at Florida airport after luggage dispute delays flight, injures deputies

A man and a woman were arrested at a Florida airport following a luggage dispute that delayed a flight and sent two sheriff's deputies to the hospital, authorities said.

The incident unfolded as Ida Shafir, 67, and her companion, Nick Bogomolsky, 61, were attempting to board their Delta Air Lines flight at the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport on Tuesday morning.

Airline agents announced over the loud speaker that passengers would have to check all carry-on luggage at the gate, free of charge, in order to board the New York-bound plane because it was full.

But Shafir "refused to check [her] luggage" and caused "a commotion at the gate," according to the complaint affidavit

An airline agent took the pair aside on the jet bridge and explained they would have to check their bags prior to boarding the flight. The agent then contacted her manager, who arrived and noticed that Bogomolsky had three items, more than the one-carry-on, one-personal-item permitted in the plane's cabin, the affidavit said.

The manager "felt the safety of the plane and the other passengers was in jeopardy if he would allow Bogomolsky and Ida to board," so he told them they wouldn't be allowed to board and needed to leave the jet way, according to the affidavit.

The airline agents contacted authorities for assistance after the pair "refused to leave." Two deputies from the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and tried to deescalate the situation. One deputy explained to Shafir she needed to leave or she would be arrested, and Shafir dared the deputy to arrest her, the affidavit said. The deputy attempted to handcuff Shafir but she "got out of control and resisted arrest by tensing, bracing and pulling her hands away from him," according to the complaint affidavit.

The struggle went to the ground and Shafir bit the deputy on his left forearm, drawing blood. Then Bogomolsky pushed the second deputy out of his way and tried to grab a firearm from the holster of the deputy who was on the floor with Shafir, the affidavit said. As the second deputy attempted to regain control of Bogomolsky, the two ended up on the ground as well, causing the second deputy to injure his right knee and his right thumb, according to the affidavit.

Both deputies were transported to a local hospital.

Shafir continued resisting arrest until multiple deputies arrived on scene and were able to handcuff her. Bogomolsky was taken into custody. The incident delayed the Delta Air Lines flight and disrupted normal operations, according to the complaint affidavit.

Shafir, who lives in Brooklyn, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and trespassing. Bogomolsky, who also lives in Brooklyn, was charged with robbery, resisting arrest with violence, trespassing after warning and obstructing police, according to the complaint affidavit.

A mother of three has spent £19,000 on surgery to look like Meghan Markle.

Xochytl Greer, 36, went under five and a half hours of cosmetic surgery to undergo a nose job, liposuction on her stomach and thighs and a buttock lift.

The lawyer, who comes from Houston, Texas, has also had fillers under her eyes, in her lips and jawline, in addition to Botox.

Greer, who uses to suffer from low self confidence, says she now feels “happy” with the way she looks.

“When I look in the mirror, I’m happy again. I still see me, but a better version of me.

“I’m at the point where I feel I can put myself out there in the world again.

“Previously I felt no matter how much make-up I put on or how I fixed my hair that I wasn’t properly presentable.

“I had very big self-confidence issues, but now I feel I can put on a nice dress and don’t need to wear much make-up because I feel great.

While Greer admits she is still not “identical” to the Duchess of Sussex, she does think the pair have similar features.

“I don’t think I look identical to Meghan Markle, but I do see our similarities a lot more now, my nose definitely resembles hers more closely.

“I also had fillers in my jawline to have a stronger jaw like she does, so I do feel I more strongly resemble her now.”

She also says her youngest daughter mistakes the Duchess for her mother whenever she sees her on TV.

“Whenever my 23-month-old sees Meghan she looks at her and says ‘Mommy, mommy’.”

Mystery man buys $540 worth of Girl Scout cookies so girls can 'get out of this cold'

A man in South Carolina plunked down $540 to buy out a troop’s entire stock of Girl Scout cookies so the girls could close up shop and escape the cold weather. The Scouts were stationed outside a Bilo grocery store in Mauldin, S.C.

Kayla Dillard, who manages cookie sales for Troop 1574 — the group her daughter belongs to — said in a Facebook post on Friday that the customer first arrived and bought seven boxes of Girl Scout cookies for $40 and told them to keep the change. But she told Yahoo Lifestyle “we were all in total shock” when the man returned with a new offer.

The man said, “Pack up all of your cookies. I’m taking them all so y’all can get out of this cold,” and he proceeded to buy up every last box, including Thanks-A-Lots, Caramel deLites, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, S’mores, Thin Mints and Lemonades.

“The girls were almost speechless,” Dillard told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Then they got busy trying to calculate his total.”

The final amount the man spent was $540.

“We were just thankful,” she added — but unfortunately she doesn’t know who to thank, because she never got the man’s name and he still hasn’t come forward. “He mentioned he owned several businesses,” Dillard said. “We assume he was going to give the cookies away.”

Now that Dillard’s post has gone viral, internet sleuths are hard at work trying to identify the Good Samaritan. Dillard said the man has been tagged in the post several times by people who think they know him, but his identity remains a mystery.

Others were impressed by his extraordinary kindness.

“Wow, what a great big heart he has!! Kudos to him for doing such a wonderful thing! That is something they will remember for the rest of their lives!” one person wrote.

“This generous man probably shared the cookies with nursing homes, his employees/coworkers, homeless shelters and friends,” another speculated. “He seems to be a great person with a big heart.”

A mother and daughter were arrested on Monday for allegedly killing five family members in their Pennsylvania apartment, who the mother claims all "wanted to die," authorities said.
Shana Decree, 45, and her 19-year-old daughter, Dominique Decree, allegedly carried out a killing spree in their two-bedroom apartment in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles northeast of Philadelphia.
Police discovered the apartment in disarray with the gruesome scene during a wellness check Monday afternoon around 4 p.m. local time.
The victims were identified as Shana Decree's children -- Naa'Irah Smith, 25, and Damon Decree Jr., 13 -- as well as her sister -- Jamilla Campbell, 42 -- and Campbell's 9-year-old twin daughters, Imani and Erika Allen.

Campbell's 17-year-old son, Joshua Campbell, whose whereabouts were unknown Monday evening, has been located and is safe, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office. He was not at the apartment at the time of the murders, Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub told reporters Tuesday
There are no other suspects, Weintraub said.
"I just feel very confident that we have the two killers locked up that committed these atrocious, atrocious murders," he added.

Eight people, including both of the suspects, were residing in the small apartment, Weintraub said.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive nor the causes of death. The case is still under investigation.
"We're working on some theories, but it wouldn't be fair for me to speculate … so I'm not going to," Weintraub said.

During questioning, Shana Decree told police that everyone at the apartment "wanted to die," according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Dominique Decree, who had visible injuries to her neck, asked police if her family was alive and "repeatedly advised her wish to die," according to the affidavit.
"This is a terrible tragedy. I just spoke with the family of the five deceased, and we're all heartbroken," Weintraub said at a press conference late Monday. "I wish I had better news to report."

Shana Decree was arraigned early Tuesday morning and is being held without bail. Her daughter was expected to be arraigned later in the day.
They each face five counts of criminal homicide and one count of conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.
"I wanted to come out here," he added, "and make sure that everybody knew that the people that committed these atrocious acts are now in custody and will be made to pay for their crimes."
It's unclear if either suspect has retained an attorney.

Nebraska state senator refers to American flag as 'a rag': 'That's all it is to me'

Hope Schreiber,Yahoo Lifestyle 19 hours ago
“Senator Groene wants to talk about the meaning of respect,” Chambers said Tuesday. “What do white people mean by it and what do black people mean by it? White people mean we’ve gotta bow down to what they tell us as black people to bow down to. I don’t come here for this rag every day, and it’s a rag. That’s all it is to me. When you show a way to persuade Jews to sanctify and worship the swastika — when you show me that I’ll come up here and stand while you all hypocritically pretend that rag is something that it definitely is not.”

Brewer, who served in the military for more than 30 years, held back tears during his rebuttal. KMTV reported his response: “It rips our heart out to hear someone say that they refer to the flag as a rag because for those of us that have brought home, those that we’ve lost, it’s hard to refer to the flag as a rag because you have to fold it and you have to give it to the parents — that’s awful hard to do.”
