A man in China has died after contracting a rare infectious disease from primates, known as the Monkey B virus, Chinese health officials revealed in a report Saturday. The victim, a 53-year-old veterinarian based in Beijing, was the first documented human case of the virus in China.

According to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the man worked in a research institute that specialized in nonhuman primate breeding and dissected two dead monkeys in March. He experienced nausea, vomiting and fever a month later, and died May 27. His blood and saliva samples were sent to the center in April, where researchers found evidence of the Monkey B virus. Two of his close contacts, a male doctor and a female nurse, tested negative for the virus, officials said.

The Monkey B virus, or herpes B virus, is prevalent among macaque monkeys, but extremely rare - and often deadly - when it spreads to humans. In humans, it tends to attack the central nervous system and cause inflammation to the brain, leading to a loss of consciousness, said Kentaro Iwata, an infectious disease expert at Kobe University in Tokyo. If untreated, there's about an 80 percent fatality rate.

There have been fewer than a hundred reported human infections of herpes B since the first case of primate-to-human transmission in 1932, many of them in North America, where scientists tend to be more aware of the disease, Iwata said. There are likely to be cases of the virus that have gone undetected, but experts still widely believe that it is an extremely rare condition among humans.

Victims have tended to be veterinarians, scientists or researchers who work directly with primates and could be exposed to their bodily fluids through scratches, bites or dissections. In 1997, a primate researcher in New York died six weeks after a caged monkey flung a drop of liquid at her face, hitting her eye. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there has only been one documented case of an infected human spreading the virus to another person.

Both herpes B and the novel coronavirus are "the consequence of species jumps," said Nikolaus Osterrieder, dean of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences in Hong Kong. "But the important difference is that in the case from herpes B, it's a dead end. It's not jumping from one human to another human," he added. "SARS-CoV-2, on the other hand, acquired the ability to spread to a new host."

Osterrieder said herpes B is very well-adapted to macaque monkeys and unlikely to mutate in a way that it will start to spread rapidly among humans. Nonetheless, both he and Iwata emphasized that they hope more people learn about the disease and take the right safety precautions, especially when interacting with monkeys in non-research settings, such as at a zoo or in nature. Officials in Florida debated last year what to do over a rapidly multiplying population of rhesus monkeys - an emerging tourist attraction - many of which carried the herpes B virus.

Chinese health authorities said discovery of the Monkey B virus in a human suggests that it might "pose a potential zoonotic threat to occupational workers," adding that it's necessary "to strengthen surveillance in laboratory macaques and occupational workers." By Monday, news of the veterinarian's death had been viewed more than 110 million times on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.

"Apart from researchers, most people should stay away from wild animals," said one post with several thousand likes. "You may want to be close to nature, but nature doesn't want to be close to you."

Last week, Dallas County health officials in Texas reported the case of a man with a rare case of monkeypox, which can also be transmitted when people are bitten or scratched by an animal.

Two More Fully Vaccinated Texas Democrat Lawmakers Test Positive For Covid-19 Since Fleeing to DC – 5 Cases Total

Didn’t Joe Biden and the CDC just tell us this is a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”?

Two more fully vaccinated Texas state lawmakers tested positive for Covid-19 this weekend after fleeing to DC, bringing the total cases to five.

On Monday at least 58 Democrat members of the state House of Representatives fled Texas to Washington DC to block Republicans from advancing new voting laws through a special session of the legislature.

The Austin American-Statesman reported:

Two more Texas Democrats tested positive for the coronavirus Sunday, bringing the total number of cases among the nearly 60 lawmakers in Washington up to five.

State Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer of San Antonio said in a statement that he was one of the two members to test positive for the virus on Sunday, after testing negative on both Friday and Saturday.

The Texas House Democratic Caucus is not naming the individuals who have tested positive, but officials with the party said all of the lawmakers in Washington have been vaccinated, including those who are now infected.

Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer, one of the state lawmakers who tested positive for Covid today, said he is experiencing “extremely mild symptoms” and will quarantine until he tests negative.

Kamala Harris met with the Texas state lawmakers twice this weekend before checking into Walter Reed Sunday morning.

According to the White House, Kamala Harris went to Walter Reed for a ‘routine appointment.’

America’s Coffee? Owner of Popular Black Rifle Coffee Calls Some Customers “Racists” and “The Worst of American Society;” “I Hate” Them

America’s Coffee?

The founder of Black Rifle Coffee, the ‘America first’ alternative coffee company that received an endorsement from Trump in 2017 and sponsors conservative media outlets like The Daily Wire and BlazeTV, had extremely harsh words for some of his customer base in a recent interview, calling them “such a repugnant group of people,” among other things.

The company started in 2014 branding itself as pro-military, pro-firearm, pro-law enforcement, and ‘anti-hipster.’ All of which are popular views among the right – hence why the brand gained popularity in the conservative and MAGA movement in 2017.

Despite building the brand off of a very distinct message that is targeted at conservatives, the owner did not hold back when describing how he wanted to “flush the toilet of” some of the customers that doubled their sales over the past 3 years.

In his interview with The New York Times, Evan Hafer decided to ‘roast’ some of their loyal customers by denouncing supporters of Kyle Rittenhouse and “racist Proud-Boyish people”.

You can’t let sections of your customers hijack your brand and say, ‘This is who you are, it’s like, no, no we define that.”

“It’s such a repugnant group of people. It’s like the worst of American society, and I got to flush the toilet of some of those people that kind of hijacked portions of the brand.”

Hafer seemed all too excited to finally get his 15 minutes of glorifying coverage from the neo-Marxists at the Times.

“The racism [expletive] really pisses me off. I hate racist, proud boy-ish people. Like, I’ll pay them to leave my customer base. I would gladly chop all of those people out of my [expletive] customer database and pay them to get the [expletive] out.”

His responses prompted the reporter to gleefully ask him if Black Rifle Coffee would change their popular ‘Beyond Black’ Blend’s name to ‘Beyond Black Lives Matter,’ so they could easily “alienate the racists polluting it’s customer base.”

In short, Black Rifle Coffee just smeared its customers and sold out to the shameless NY Times so they could write a piece about bigot conservatives.

Fairfax PTA leader ousted after wishing death on anti-CRT parents

NCAA, PTA leader wished death on parents who oppose critical race theory

"Today, the Virginia PTA executive committee requested and received the resignation of Michelle Leete, who served as Vice President of Training," a Saturday statement from the association reads.

"The actions & rhetoric of Ms. Leete & all of the like-minded partisan supporters of the SB are deeply disappointing. It evinces a deep lack of concern for children & parents, particularly where the wellbeing of children & families clash with political considerations," a tweet accompanying the statement reads.

The resignation comes after Leete was recorded at a rally Thursday denouncing opponents of critical race theory and saying, "Let them die."

'LET THEM DIE': FAIRFAX NAACP, PTA LEADER ATTACKS PEOPLE WHO ARE 'ANTI-EQUITY,' 'ANTI-SOCIAL JUSTICE'

"Let's deny this off-key band of people that are anti-education, anti-teacher, anti-equity, anti-history, anti-racial … anti-opportunities, anti-help people, anti-diversity, [inaudible], anti-science, anti-change agent, anti-social justice, anti-health care, anti-worker, anti-LGBTQ+, anti-children, anti-health care, anti-worker, anti-environment, anti-admissions policy change, anti-inclusion, anti-live and let live – let them die!" Leete said in a video.

Her comment was met with a round of applause from the audience gathered at Luther Jackson Middle School in Falls Church.

"Don't let these uncomfortable people deter us from our own march forward," Leete, who is also Fairfax County’s NAACP vice president, said of counter-protesters.

VIRGINIA TEACHER SAYS COLLEAGUES ‘AFRAID’ TO OPPOSE CRITICAL RACE THEORY

The Virginia PTA added in its statement that it did not condone her language and said the group "upholds values of respect, collaboration and accountability."

NEW YORK MOTHER RIPS PROPONENTS OF CRITICAL RACE THEORY: 'THEY'RE THE RACISTS'

"While not speaking in her role within Virginia PTA, we do not condone the choice of words used during a public event on Thursday, July 15," the statement reads.

The Fairfax NAACP chapter did not immediately respond to Fox News's request for comment on Leete's ousting.

The resignation comes as parents across the nation have gone viral in videos denouncing the critical race theory, including in New York, where one mother told a school board to stop teaching the "communist" lessons.
