• According to airport officials, the unnamed teen jumped the airfield around dawn, got into the plane and started one of the King Air 200's twin engines.
• The plane made it across a runway before crashing into an airport building, which was badly damaged.
• Police say they found the girl confused and uncooperative, but not injured.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested after police say she stole a private plane, drove it along a runway, then crashed it at a California airport.
Security footage taken at Fresno Yosemite International Airport on Wednesday, and broadcast by local news station ABC30, shows the aircraft, a King Air 200 plane, veering across the runway then hitting a building.
Airport spokeswoman Vikkie Calderon told The Fresno Bee that the perpetrator jumped the airport fence, got into the plane, put on the pilot's headset, and started one of its two engines.
The girl then drove the plane erratically around the runway before crashing it into a building, causing "substantial damage," Calderon said.
No passengers were on the plane and no injuries were reported.
"No passengers or commercial airlines were ever at risk in this incident," Calderon said. "The motive is still under investigation but there is no indication of any ties to domestic terrorism."
The police were called and arrested the girl at around 7:30 a.m, Calderon said. Officers found the girl "disoriented" and "uncooperative."

Airport officials are none the wiser as to how the teen managed to get into the plane and start the engines.
"That's still under investigation. We're not certain how she was able to accomplish those things," airport police chief Drew Bessinger told ABC30.

Girl, 16, Staged Terrifying Kidnapping Caught on Surveillance Footage: Police Sources

The kidnapping of 16-year-old Karol Sanchez has taken an unexpected turn as sources tell PEOPLE the young girl may have staged the abduction.

One source tells PEOPLE it’s “looking like she staged” the incident and that Sanchez may have been upset about an upcoming move to South America.

A second source reveals police are investigating “the possibility” that the abduction was staged.

Sanchez reportedly made the shocking confession to police when questioned by officers from the 40th Precinct, according to CBS New York and The New York Times, after being found safe and unharmed at a Bronx park in New York City on Tuesday.

Sanchez allegedly devised the hoax because of a difficult relationship with her mother, a police official told The New York Times.

CBS New York reported that Sanchez was “unhappy” and was trying to get away from “overprotective” mother.

At this time, an investigation into the incident remains ongoing and it is not clear if Sanchez will face charges.

The New York Police Department would not confirm if the department believes the kidnapping was staged but said the investigation is continuing.

A spokesperson for the family could not be identified at this time.

Sanchez’s story captivated the city and prompted an Amber Alert after the NYPD released harrowing surveillance footage, showing the young girl appearing to be kidnapped right off the street — all while her mother tries to fend off the abductors.

The alleged kidnapping unfolded within seconds and happened as Sanchez and her mother were walking on the sidewalk of a Bronx street.

Sanchez’s mother can be seen in the footage fighting with at least one man, who forcefully shoves her backward at one point.

Witnesses told CBS New York that Sanchez’s mother was visibly distressed following the incident.
“She was just screaming ‘My daughter, my daughter, my God someone please help me.’ She was screaming hysterically. And I was looking, wondering what was going on. She was just screaming in the street,” the witness explained.


Tuesday afternoon, just after news broke that Sanchez had been found, journalist Kimberly Richardson tweeted a video clip of the teen’s “emotional reunion” with her mother.

Police are actively looking for four male accomplices, CBS New York reported.

History Made at Miss World! Black Women Are Now the Reigning Queens of the Top 5 Beauty Pageants

 History was made yet again in the pageant world over the weekend.

 

On Saturday, Toni-Ann Singh from St. Thomas, Jamaica was crowned Miss World 2019 in London — becoming the fifth black woman to currently hold a top pageant queen title.

The accomplishment marks the first time in pageant world history that all five major titles — Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe, and now Miss World — have been held by black women.

It also comes just one week after Zozibini Tunzi made history when she was crowned Miss Universe, joining Miss America Nia Franklin, Miss USA Cheslie Kryst, and Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris.

Shortly after being crowned, Singh — a 23-year-old aspiring doctor — opened up about the moment on Instagram and emphasized how her Miss World win would hopefully impact little girls around the world.

“My Jamaica, sweet Jamaica🇯🇲we did it! Wah we seh? LIKKLE BUT WE TALLAWAH. My heart is filled with love and gratitude,” she wrote beside a photo of herself with a crown and Miss World sash. “Thank you so much for believing in me. You pushed me to believe in myself. I am not only honored but humbled to be the 69th Miss World.”

“To that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the world – please believe in yourself,” Singh continued. “Please know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams.

 This crown is not mine but yours. It’s for you to truly understand that no matter where you’re from and the cards you’re dealt in life – your dreams are valid. You have a PURPOSE.”

Finishing, Singh vowed to represent the Miss World title to the best of her ability. “To the @missworld franchise – I am willing and ready to do the work; to officially be the face that represents the core of Miss World – Beauty with a Purpose,” she wrote.

Singh’s history-making moment was met by praise from tons of people on social media, including Sen. Kamala Harris, who congratulated the five women on Twitter.

“Showing the nation and the world what we’re capable of. This isn’t just magic: their commitment and dedication exemplifies Black excellence,” Harris tweeted.

It was also a hot topic on Twitter after Miss Nigeria Nyekachi Douglas went viral for her genuine reaction to Singh’s win.

In a sweet moment, which was captured by a Twitter user and retweeted on Douglas’ account, Miss Nigeria began screaming and jumping up and down in excitement right after her friend was announced as the new Miss World.

Despite losing the crown, Douglas couldn’t help but beam with pride for Singh, who stood on stage stunned and clearly emotional.

It has not been lost on the pageant queens just how special their accomplishment are, as three of the then-history-making four recently discussed their crownings on Good Morning America.

“It’s such a great move forward as the world and as a society to say, ‘Look, women who were in the past [who] never had opportunities to do things like this are now here,'” Tunzi, 26, said on GMA alongside Kryst and Garris.

“[I’ve had] mothers who say, ‘My 4-year-old daughter was so excited to see you on stage and she kept on screaming, You look like me! She looks like me!‘ ” she added.

“People will comment on our social media and be like, ‘Why are we talking about your race? You guys are just four amazing women,'” Kryst, 28, pointed out. “And I’m like, ‘Yes, we are four amazing women, but there was a time when we literally could not win!'”

A man with a homemade license plate drawn with crayon on a paper grocery bag was arrested after Indiana State Troopers stopped to lend the stranded motorist a helping hand.

Officers Craig Woodcox and Zarek Finley were driving along the I-80 Toll Road in Steuben County, Indiana, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon when they saw a man standing next to a Toyota Corolla on the side of the road tending to a flat tire.

But when the Indiana State Troopers pulled over to help the man, things began to quickly unravel.
The man identified himself as Joshua Lewis-Brown, 20, from Rochester, New York and told the officers that he was unable to change the tire and needed a tow truck. But when Woodcox and Finley were about to oblige his request, they noticed that the license plate was hand-written in crayon on a paper grocery bag.

“Woodcox discovered the Toyota had been reported as stolen out of State College, Pennsylvania the day prior. The Troopers’ also found that Brown had never been licensed to operate a motor vehicle in any state, and was currently on probation for Grand Larceny,” the Indiana State Police said in a statement.
Finley then placed Lewis-Brown under arrest and he was subsequently booked into custody and charged with Possession of Stolen Property, a Level 5 Felony, and Operating Without Ever Obtaining a License, a Level C Misdemeanor.

According to the Indiana State Police as reported by authorities in Pennsylvania, it is alleged that the vehicle had been stolen when the owner left it unattended and unlocked with the engine running in order to keep the car warm outside of a local grocery store in Pennsylvania. But when the owner made his quick purchase and left the store he found that his vehicle was missing.
Brown will be held on the Indiana charges, and then will face extradition back to Pennsylvania pending their local charges.

Netflix Christmas special which implies Jesus was gay sparks backlash from Christians

A Christmas comedy special which implies Jesus was gay is no laughing matter for more than a million angry viewers, who have signed a petition demanding it is pulled from Netflix on the grounds that it is offensive to Christians.

As the New York Daily News reports, The First Temptation of Christ from Brazil-based YouTube comedy group Porta dos Fundos is causing a stir with its irreverent take on the holiday. In addition to a weed-smoking Mary, the 46-minute special sees Jesus — accompanied by a flamboyant male friend — coming home to a surprise birthday party in his honor. Jesus appears to try to conceal his friend, who later joins the party and belts out an eyebrow-raising holiday ditty that includes the lyrics “In the heat of the desert I saw the size of his huge ... power.”

Those upset over the depiction are calling for Netflix to stop streaming the special, with more than 1.1 million people signing a petition. Comments left by critics have accused Porta dos Fundos (which translates to Back Door) of showing religious discrimination and “derision and disrespect for the faith of the Catholic Church and especially for God.”

“No one is obliged to believe in Jesus Christ, but we demand respect for our beliefs,” wrote a commenter who claimed to have canceled his Netflix subscription in protest. “Whoever disrespects my God does not deserve my money.”

While Netflix did not have a comment on the matter, Porto dos Fundos is taking the charges of “blasphemy” in stride, even tweeting out a link to a second petition calling the special “tragic and sad.”

“Porta dos Fundos values artistic freedom and humor through satire on the most diverse cultural themes of our society and believes that freedom of expression is an essential construction for a democratic country,” the group, which has produced religious satires for years, said in a statement.

Children's transgender clinic hit by 35 resignations in three years as psychologists warn of gender dysphoria 'over-diagnoses'

A transgender clinic has been hit by 35 resignations in three years, as psychologists warn of “overdiagnoses” of gender dysphoria among children.

The whistleblowers said too many children were being put on puberty-blocking drugs when they should not have been given the diagnosis.

Former staff said they were unable to properly assess patients over fears they will be branded "transphobic".

The concerns were raised by six psychologists who have resigned from London's children's gender-identity service in the past three years.

One psychologist, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Our fears are that young people are being over-diagnosed and then over-medicalised.

"We are extremely concerned about the consequences for young people... For those of us who previously worked in the service, we fear that we have had front row seats to a medical scandal."

Thirty-five psychologists have resigned from London's Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust since 2016, the investigation by Sky News reveals.

One psychologist said: "The alarm started ringing for me... I didn't feel able to voice my concerns, or when I did I was often shut down by other affirmative clinicians. Looking back there are young people who I now wouldn't necessarily put on medication."

Data shows the number of children treated at the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) has risen more than thirty-fold in a decade - from 77 to 2,590
The GODS in Camden, north London, is where children with gender dysphoria are treated on the NHS.

The service had 2,590 young patients referred to them last year, compared with just 77 patients a decade ago. 

It sees children under the age of 18 and, in rare cases, some as young as three. 

In a statement, the GODS said it supports every young person on a case-by-case basis, as an individual. 

“GIDS takes a considered and thoughtful approach, and supports clinicians to engage openly and supportively with patients and parents.

'We have conducted exit interviews with all departing staff to understand their motivations and identify any areas of concern.

'The work is demanding and the pressures of operating in a busy service facing a high level of unfair criticism are intense, their motivations are as individual as they are.”

People with gender dysphoria experience discomfort or distress because they feel there is mismatch between their biological sex and identity.

Almost half of children treated at the GIDS are prescribed hormone-blockers that halt puberty, which resumes when the patient stops taking the drugs.

This gives children the time to consider whether they truly want to make the transition to the opposite sex. 

But the drugs interfere with natural hormone production and can cause mood swings.
The next stage is hormone therapy. It sees youngsters take testosterone, if transitioning to a male, or oestrogen, if switching to female. This is normally not given to people under 16 because it is irreversible and can eventually make patients infertile. 
Gender-reassignment surgery, the final step in transitioning from one sex to another, is reserved for patients over 18. 
Thomasin, who spent most of her teen years identifying as male, switched back to being a female this year at the age of 19.
She was diagnosed with gender dysphoria by the Tavistock at 17 but was never prescribed medication.

Thomasin de-transitioned this year after realising she was struggling with her sexuality as a lesbian.
She said she was glad she never took irreversible steps to become male. 

She said: “Mainly the thing that was fueling me was that I didn't fit in and then I was slowly drip fed this idea that you could change sex.”
