A pair of enraged women beat and slashed a straphanger in a Manhattan
subway station — after he accidentally stepped on one of their feet,
police said Thursday. The 24-year-old Bronx man was riding a northbound A
train through Inwood around noon Wednesday when he made the mistake of
stepping on the woman, causing her female friend to begin arguing with
him, police said. When the subway pulled into the 207th Street station,
the women tried blocking the man from leaving the train. The victim made
his way toward the exit, but not before the women began attacking him —
with the one who had her tootsie stepped on swinging her purse at him,
while the other pulled out a box cutter and slashed him, police said.
