Valentine Low, author of "Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor," speaks to Fox News Digital about the Duke of Sussex's tumultuous relationship with palace staff.
Prince Harry’s paranoia about the British press existed long before Meghan Markle came into the picture.
Valentine Low, a correspondent for the U.K. Times, claimed that the Duke of Sussex, 38, had an "obsession with the media" that prompted him to carry out "loyalty tests" on his palace aides, leaving them "exhausted."
"If he had a beef with the media, he’d want them to pursue it," Low claimed to Fox News Digital. "They would often say, ‘Harry, don’t pick this fight. This fight’s not worth having. You don’t have to pursue every slight that’s been done towards you.’ And if you didn’t pursue it with the kind of energy that he sought, he could question your loyalty. He wondered if you’d become one of them, one of the others from the other royal households who protected the institution … and not the individual."

Royal correspondent Valentine Low has written a book titled "Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor." (St. Martin's Press)
Low has written a book that was published on Jan. 24 titled "Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor." In it, Low explores how trusted advisers to the British royal family played a crucial role in the monarchy’s survival over the years. It features interviews with insiders who shared their experiences working behind palace doors. While it gives insight into several royals, it is the book’s chapters on the Sussexes that have garnered the most headlines.
Reps for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment regarding Low’s book. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace previously told Fox News Digital they generally do not comment "on such books."
One source alleged to Low that Harry’s "permanent sense of frustration" took a toll on those who worked for the royal family.

"He would use this phrase the whole time, ‘the palace syndrome,’ when you won’t fight the battles he wants, because you have been institutionalized," a source alleged in the book. "Giving in to the media was a key symptom of whether you had developed it. The team fighting all these battles: it was a constant test of loyalty. ‘Are you going to protect me? Or have you just become one of them, who won’t fight for me?’ It was exhausting."
According to Low, Harry’s biggest gripe was with the Royal Rota, the system that gave royal correspondents access to palace events. Harry "saw it as a cartel," which gave the same tabloids "that ran inaccurate stories about him" unnecessary entry.

"His argument was: why should he cooperate with those papers that made his life such a misery and had such poor professional standards, while other, more respectable outlets – those who did not have full-time royal correspondents, did not get a look-in?" Low wrote. "It was a topic that continued to obsess him for years until he and Meghan stepped down as working members of the royal family and stopped cooperating with the rota."

"The media would argue that it was a system that worked perfectly well, giving all media equal access to the royal family without discrimination, while also allowing the palace to control the number of media outlets who attended events," Low wrote. "As for the palace, they simply felt it was a fight that wasn’t worth having."
One source argued that Harry’s "enemies" were not just the press. It was clear that he also had "mistrust" toward the courtiers at Buckingham Palace, which intensified when he began dating the "Suits" star. Another insider alleged that there was one reason Harry was determined to rein in the press during the whirlwind romance.
"[Meghan] was saying, ‘If you don’t put out a statement confirming I’m your girlfriend, I’m going to break up with you,’" a source alleged.

Valentine Low claimed that Prince Harry's "mistrust" toward the media and his palace aides intensified when he began dating Meghan Markle, an American actress. (Getty Images / File)
"He was freaking out, saying, ‘She’s going to dump me,’" another alleged in the book.
Low claimed that not only did Markle want "public validation" that the relationship was serious, but she was "also convinced that the palace was unwilling to protect her from media intrusion." She allegedly told Harry’s staff, "I know how the palace works, I know how this is going to play out. You don’t care about the girlfriend."

"A lot of people always describe [the couple’s] difficulties as being rooted in the racism of the British press," Low explained to Fox News Digital. "And I think that’s misleading. I think there were a small number of articles in the beginning, which were pretty unforgivable. But it was a small number. And it quieted down after Harry issued a statement."

"I just don’t think Meghan’s difficulties with the royal family were really about race," Low claimed. "I think… Harry hated the media and just reacted badly to anything negative. He saw negativity when there was no negativity. … That just always makes life very difficult."
Markle, a former American actress, married the British prince in 2018. And while she was described as "a breath of fresh air" by the press, it was clear that the Duchess of Sussex was struggling with royal life.
In 2019, ITV’s Tom Bradby was traveling with the couple and their son, Archie, during their 10-day royal tour of Africa. In the documentary "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey," the new mom admitted she was struggling behind the scenes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex toured South Africa in 2019. It was clear then that they were struggling, said Valentine Low. (Pool / Samir Hussein / WireImage / File)
Low called the admission "heart-[rending]."
"It was plain to everyone who saw it that Harry and Meghan were both in quite a bad place," he said. "Meghan had been suffering and Harry was clearly not all right."
Low claimed that Harry’s brother, Prince William, promptly called him following the airing of the documentary.

"William got in contact with him and said, ‘Listen, can I come see you? Let’s talk face to face,’" Low claimed. "Harry initially said yes. And then he sort of stopped for a moment and said, ‘Well, hang on a minute. Who are you going to have to tell?’ William said, ‘Well, I’m going to have to tell my private secretary because I’m going to have to change my diary if I drive over to come see you.’ And Harry said, ‘Well, in that case, don’t come.’ He really thought [William’s staff] will only leak it. … He was so mistrustful of the staff… and also paranoid about the media, that he wouldn’t let his own brother come and see him, talk to him about the terrible mental state he was in. It just breaks your heart."
In early 2020, the couple announced they were quitting royal duties and moving to North America, citing what they said were the unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media. Since then, the couple has made efforts to take back the narrative of their story.
Following their exit, the couple sat down with Oprah Winfrey for an interview that was viewed by 50 million people globally. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke out again in a six-part Netflix documentary released in December. Then in the New Year, Harry's memoir "Spare" was published on Jan. 10.

In his memoir, Prince Harry, left, alleged that Prince William, right, called Meghan Markle "difficult" and "rude." (Dominic Lipinski / Pool / AFP via Getty Images / File)
Harry’s story is dominated by his rivalry with William, 40, who is heir to the throne, as well as the 1997 death of their mother, Princess Diana. Harry, who was 12 at the time, has never forgiven the media for Diana’s death in a car crash while being pursued by photographers. The 36-year-old's passing haunts the book, which Harry dedicates to his wife, their two children "and, of course, my mother."
Harry, 38, claimed that during an argument in 2019, William called Markle "difficult" and "rude," then grabbed him by the collar and knocked him down. Harry suffered cuts and bruises from landing on a dog bowl. According to Harry, their father, King Charles III, implored the brothers to make up, saying after the funeral of Prince Philip in 2021, "Please, boys. Don’t make my final years a misery."
Harry has long complained of "leaks" and "plants" of stories to the media by members of the royal household. He detailed those claims in his memoir. Buckingham Palace officials have declined to comment on any of the allegations made in Harry's book. A spokesperson for the king did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. A spokesperson for Kensington Palace, which represents the Prince and Princess of Wales, told Fox News Digital it doesn’t have a comment. Allies of the royal family have pushed back on Harry’s claims, largely anonymously.

Following the publication of "Spare," royal insiders hit back at Prince Harry's scorching revelations. (Angela Weiss / AFP via Getty Images / File)
Low said that William in particular endured the worst criticism from Harry in his book.
"I think that relationship is severely damaged," said Low. "But in terms of long-term damage to the monarchy, I’m not so sure. A lot of this is family fights, and it will blow over in the end. If you think about the state of the monarchy in the 1990s when you had ‘annus horribilis’… That was a terrible time. The reputation of the monarchy took quite a hit over that. But they recovered. They had this strategy where they tried to see what lessons they could learn. And they also carried on doing the work. It paid off. So, I don’t see this having huge, long-term damage to the royal family."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in the wealthy coastal city of Montecito, California, with their two children.

Teacher unions have come under increased public scrutiny in recent years and for good reasons. Teacher unions are completely allied with the Democrat party and use their money and membership to influence elections.
In Arlington, Virginia, the former president of the local teacher union was recently arrested, when it was discovered that she has allegedly embezzled over $400,000 through faulty bonuses and other self-rewards.
The Washington Free Beacon reports:
Former Teachers’ Union President Arrested in Virginia for Embezzlement
A former Virginia teachers’ union president was arrested on Monday for pilfering more than $400,000 from her organization.
Ingrid Gant, who led the Arlington Education Association for six years, was charged with four counts of embezzlement following a six-month investigation, the Fairfax County Police Department announced in a press release. An independent auditor who worked with police found that Gant awarded herself many bonuses and improperly made charges to her organization’s debit cards.

Gant is the second teachers’ union head to face charges for abuse of funds just this month. In a strikingly similar case, a former teachers’ union treasurer in Reading, Pa., was charged on Jan. 6 for embezzling more than $400,000 since 2016, the Reading Eagle reported. The treasurer resigned in September when confronted with the improper expenditures.
June Prakash, the president of the Arlington Education Association, declined to comment. Her organization says it “is pursuing all legal channels to recoup any lost funds and hold those responsible accountable.”
But it’s all about the children, right?

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/01/want-america-wake-pay-attention-something-aint-right-silk-describes-sister-diamond-died-suddenly-kitchen-video/

At the Saturday memorial for her sister Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway, Silk told the crowd of supporters, including President Trump, that the vaccine may have been a factor in her sister’s sudden death.
Silk then called for an investigation. “There’s something going on!”
Silk spoke to the crowd on Saturday before President Trump took the stage.
Silk described how her sister “died suddenly” and how she tried to save her.
Silk: As soon as Diamond hung up the phone, she said to me, “I can’t breathe.” It was sudden, out of nowhere and no warning. I got her to the kitchen table, opened up the back door so that she can get some air. And, each breath was less and less and less, until her eyes became a stare… My husband and I followed the 911 instructions from the lady. We laid her. Like they told us to lay her flat. They said do CPR. And it was one-two-three-four, one-two-three-four, one-two-three-four… My husband and I alternated and kept going and going and going, until the emergency truck came into the yard and the EMS came into the house. They did everything that they could.
So what I want to say to everybody is don’t you dare call me a conspiracy theorist. Because I saw it happen. I saw how it happened. I was there when it happened and it happened suddenly. I want America to wake up and pay attention. Something ain’t right. It’s time to investigate what’s really going on here! And get some answers to why our people are falling dead suddenly.
Silk then went on to say, “Instead of asking if Americans are vaxxed or unvaxxed the real question is are they being poisoned.”

A local high school football player is fighting for his life after suffering a massive heart attack in November, and he is asking the general public for help.
Markus Martinez, a former Columbine High School football star and now senior at Bear Creek High School, suffered a major heart attack Thursday, November 17, 2022.

According to a fundraising campaign created for Markus, the doctors were successful in removing some of the blood clots, but not all of them.
Now, Markus’ left ventricular heart muscle has been permanently damaged. UCHealth cardiologists have recommended that he undergo a heart transplant because his heart is only functioning at 12–15% capacity. Although the family does not know what caused this, they remain hopeful and are providing Markus with the best care possible.
Markus has been in and out of the hospital since November.
“It’s been a little tough on him that he can’t get up, get out of bed and do his normal activities and stuff that he used to do, but he’s hanging in there,” Markus’ father, Steven Martinez, told FOX 31 Denver.
According to Steven, everyone in the family was shocked upon hearing the news of Markus’ sudden heart attack.
“I just couldn’t believe it was happening to someone so young and athletic,” Steven said.
Shelly Segura, Markus’ mother, said that her son needs a new heart as soon as possible.
“His heart is just unfortunately too sick right now,” Segura said. “We’ve all come together and have been praying for him. We’re really trying to stay positive for Markus.”
You can help the family with Markus’ medications, a possible heart transplant, and any other unexpected medical expenses here.

The radical trans community continued its assault on women this weekend.
Trans activists say Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman” is very offensive to trans women.
Natural Woman – The 1967 single was released by American soul singer Aretha Franklin on the Atlantic label. The words were written by Gerry Goffin from an idea by Atlantic producer Jerry Wexler, and the music was composed by Carole King.
Sky News Australia reported:
Standing for Women Founder Kellie-Jay Keen says it’s “really hard” to ignore the “misogyny” of the trans-rights movement as Aretha Franklin’s song ‘Natural Woman’ was recently slammed as offensive to trans-women.
“Being a mum, that is also being attacked, we’re now called birthing persons or pregnant persons,” Ms Keen told Sky News Australia.
“I don’t think many women really know how much we’re hated – I hate to say it … I don’t have a victim mentality, but it’s really hard to ignore the misogyny of this particular movement.
“It means a man who says he’s frightened to go in a man’s toilet – his words are more credible than a woman who says she doesn’t want that man in her space.”

Jacob Sanchez, age 35, of Bigfoot, Texas died on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
According to reports, Sanchez suddenly collapsed at the start of class.
He was promptly given CPR by the staff members, but unfortunately, they were unable to save him.

School principal Kandi Darnell was with him minutes before he collapsed, as reported by KSAT.
“He seemed fine and everything seemed fine,” she said.
“We lost a friend, colleague, and just a good man today,” Darnell wrote.
“Jacob was the kind of person who would do anything to help out others. He was a kids’ teacher. He worked hard to connect with all of our kids not just our athletes. Our kids are going to have a tough time, but our DMS family will be there to help our kids as well as each other. On a personal level I feel as if I’ve lost a son. I’ve known Jacob since he was little. He and my son were in the same class. I taught Jacob. As a principal I counted on Jacob to help with some of our tougher customers. I would get him to talk to them. He was always willing to help. He was one of the first ones to volunteer to chaperone dances, field trips etc… He would do anything for the kids. There will be a big void in our hearts. Pray for his family, our kids, and our community. RIP Jacob,” she concluded.
Sanchez’s wife, Rebecca Powe, issued a statement following the passing of his husband.
“My honey was the light of our lives. He kept our family on our toes, constantly going, and always laughing. We shared a beautiful life together He loved us with his whole heart and loved his life. He was dedicated to the community of Devine and the kids were his motivation every day.”
Devine Intermediate School issued this statement, “Devine Intermediate School would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the Sanchez family. Our hearts are with all of the Devine community.”
According to Sanchez’s obituary, he landed teaching and coaching at Devine ISD in 2016. He taught sixth and eighth-grade Science, and coached football, basketball and track, for the last seven years.
Vaccination Status: Fully Vaccinated

Evansville Police say Ronald Ray Mosley who was a former employee of Walmart.
Published
15 mins agoon

EPD says the female victim was life-flighted and was a former co-worker of Mosley’s–her condition is still unknown at this time.
Evansville Central Dispatch has confirmed that emergency personnel responded to a situation involving an active shooter on Thursday night.
According to Dispatch, the incident took place at the Walmart in Evansville that is located on South Red Bank Road.
The call came in at approximately 9:59 o’clock in the evening.
The suspect has reportedly been named as Ronald Mosley II, according to the police.
According to the authorities, Mosley previously held a position at the retail establishment.
According to EPD, the female victim who was shot currently works at Walmart. The woman was flown to a hospital to be treated. Her condition is currently unknown.
According to Sgt. Anna Gray of the Evansville Police Department, who spoke with FOX3 about the incident, when officers got at the scene, they went straight into the building.
Officers arrived at the site fairly quickly and went straight into the Walmart, according to Sgt. Gray. “We were provided with a description of the person of interest. After that, the officers started looking for the suspect.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was also dispatched to the scene of the shooting, and both deputies and police officers entered the building to search for the perpetrator of the shooting.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson said, “Right away, we put together a team with the Evansville Police Department and started looking for the threat.” “You may remember that the Columbine model came up a few decades ago. This is when you secure a scene and wait for help to keep a situation under control. We no longer use that as a model. If there is active gunfire, we go right to the threat and stop it so that as few people as possible die.”
Police say Mosley opened fire on officers when they went into the building. Several police officers fired back.
Gray says that Mosley would shoot and then run away, showing the police officers the way around the store.
The assailant was taken out by gunfire and killed.
The EPD asserts that the danger has been eliminated completely.
According to Sergeant Gray, at least one person was shot and sent to the hospital; however, it’s possible that there are additional victims.
According to the officials, anyone who was present at the store or who was hurt as a result of the incident is required to get in touch with the police.
The following statement was issued by Walmart executives in response to the shooting that occurred on Thursday:
The entire Walmart family is shocked by the senseless violence that occurred at our Evansville store, and our hearts are with our associate at this time. As we learn more, we’ll do everything we can to support our associates as they cope with this tragedy.
We’re thankful for the local first responders and will continue working with law enforcement through the course of their investigation.
"Ma" actress Octavia Spencer claimed that Los Angeles, California struck her as much more racist than her hometown of Montgomery, Alabama.
During a recent podcast interview, Spencer explained that though she had anticipated the city in the blue state to be a "free and liberal thinking place," once she got there, she experienced "more racism" than she ever had in Alabama.
Spencer, who starred in big Hollywood pictures "The Help" and "Hidden Figures," made her revealing comments on the podcast "WTF with Marc Maron."

The topic came about when the actress spoke fondly of her upbringing in Montgomery, Alabama, which seemingly caught Maron off-guard because of stereotypes of Black people living in the deep South.
Spencer claimed, ""It’s a beautiful place and beautiful people. You know, I love being from there." Maron asked, "But it’s like, it’s heavy, man. Right?"
Breaking down the stereotype, the actress stated, "I think everywhere is heavy. Everywhere has its history. You know what I mean? It’s — I think everywhere has problems."
Though she did acknowledge, "You can’t deny that Southern history is intense."
Still, Spencer explained how she grew up after the more racist period of Alabama’s history, telling Maron, "Well, what’s beautiful for me is, that stuff preceded me. You know, I was a child of the '70s… You know, as you grow older and the things that you can remember. That wasn’t a part of my history. I learned about it. It’s not everything — anything that I experienced."
Maron asked if racism affected her family in any way, to which she replied, "No."

Spencer said, "My mother definitely, you know, taught us about the world and the realities, the harsh realities of the world and history."
"But growing up in Alabama, I’m going to be honest, I felt more racism when I first moved here than I ever, ever had in Alabama," she added, mentioning relocating to Los Angeles.
Maron found the comment compelling, commenting it made sense because people of different races have been living together in the South "since the beginning" of the United States – longer than in California.
Spencer agreed, noting her initial perceptions of L.A. were broken when she got there. She said she remembers thinking, "Oh, California is gonna be this free and liberal thinking place," but ended up feeling judged upon entering a store.
"It is so funny. It’s right out of ‘Pretty Woman,’" she said, referencing a scene where high-end store clerks judge Julia Roberts’ call-girl character for daring to enter their establishment.Spencer elaborated, saying, "I remember going into a shop and being followed, like, at first, I didn’t even — I was just like so excited, like just walking around, and then I realized that I was being followed."
"It was kind of strange in that way," she added, saying that the incident was "glaringly obvious," but that she hadn't experienced much discrimination since.
