Muckraker.com founder Anthony Rubin discusses the Chinese migrants crossing the Darien Gap.
A
reporter released new video that appears to show hundreds of
military-aged Chinese men in Panama heading toward the U.S. border.
Muckraker.com founder Anthony Rubin said on "Fox & Friends First" Wednesday that every day, multiple times a day, groups of men are lining up and getting on buses to continue their journeys.
Rubin described why these individuals are taking this route to get into the United States.
"This
would be for people who can't fly into the U.S. directly. So what they
do is they get on a flight, and they fly into some South American
country. Then from there, they would go to Colombia, they would go
across the jungle, pop out in Panama, and then they would head up to the
United States. But this is going to be for people that can't fly into
the U.S. directly. … You'd rather just fly into the U.S. and overstay your visa. This is for people that don't have that access for whatever reason."
March 29, 2023: Border Patrol agents encounter over 1,000 migrants in El Paso, Texas(Customs and Border Protection)
Rubin said it's fair to be concerned about the groups showing up at the Darien Gap at the Panama-Colombia border.
He said many of the people he filmed "do not want their faces on camera."
"Either
they are foreign actors that are coming over here for nefarious
reasons. … or number two, these are people that are afraid of some sort
of retribution by the Communist Chinese Party.
"If it's number
two, well then what does that mean? That means that these people are
going to be beholden to the Communist Chinese Party once they're here.
Oh, you're in the United States. Okay, well, we're going to threaten
your friends and family back home in China unless you do X, Y, and Z.
"Either
way, it's very dangerous. You can't allow this to just continue and
have all these people cross the border. I mean, it just will not work."
Chinese nationals
are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into the U.S. in unprecedented
numbers this year, with the first few months of FY 2023 already
eclipsing the total for 2022.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection
(CBP) reports that just under 2,000 Chinese nationals crossed the
border in FY 2022, but the first few months of FY 2023 have already seen
4,300 encounters, according to federal data.
The Biden
administration saw 1.7 million migrant encounters in 2021, followed by
2.3 million encounters in 2022. More are expected in 2023. According to
Wall Street Journal, 2,200 migrants from China came through the Darien
Gap from January to March of this year, compared to 71 in the same time
frame last year.
"There are people from over 100 countries that
are popping up here. And you would ask yourself why they're coming
here," Rubin added.
He said many of the migrants are seeking "a
better life" but his trip to the Darien Gap left him with concerns about
America's national security.

(it looks like the variants will go on FOREVER and so will the vaccines and/or boosters)
What to know about XBB.1.16, a new Omicron variant on the WHO’s radar
A
new coronavirus variant has caused a surge in COVID-19 cases in India,
and doctors have flagged pink eye as a possible symptom associated with
it.
There’s a new variant of the coronavirus that infectious disease
experts and public health officials are keeping a close eye on.
XBB.1.16, also known as Arcturus, is an Omicron subvariant that appears
to be more transmissible and has fueled a recent surge of COVID-19 cases
in India. While the variant is circulating at low levels in the U.S.,
health officials are closely monitoring it.
The World Health Organization warned about XBB.1.16
last month and labeled it a “variant of monitoring,” a designation that
isn’t as serious as a “variant of interest.” However, that status could
change if the variant shows signs of increased transmissibility or
virulence, or is able to evade antibodies, the WHO noted.
XBB.1.16
has now been detected in at least 29 countries, including the U.S. and
it is expanding its reach fairly quickly. In late February, XBB.1.16
accounted for only 0.21% of all COVID-19 cases worldwide. A month later,
that had increased to 3.96%, according to the WHO’s latest figures.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began reporting cases of XBB.1.16 last Friday. According to the latest CDC data, the variant now accounts for 7% of new COVID-19 cases nationwide.
Here’s what to know about “Arcturus,” or XBB.1.16
What is XBB.1.16? Is it more dangerous?
XBB.1.16 is a sublineage of the Omicron variant that’ssimilar to XBB.1.5,
the strain that has dominated infections in the U.S. since January. But
XBB.1.16, the WHO noted, has a mutation in the virus’s spike protein
that has been associated with increased transmissibility and potentially
a higher degree of infection. However, some experts have said that
while it looks like it could spread more quickly and lead to more cases,
it doesn’t appear to cause more severe disease.
In India, the variant has led to a surge in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks. On Tuesday, India's Health Ministry reported 61,233 COVID-19 cases, which is a notable increase from the 15,208 cases that were reported on March 31. However, hospitalizations have not surged significantly.
“I
doubt it will lead to too many new hospitalizations or deaths,” Dr.
Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease specialist and a professor of
medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, told Yahoo
News. “I was just in India. ... There was an increase in cases but not
an increase in hospitalizations,” she added.
Gandhi explained that
the coronavirus won’t be fully eradicated, so it will continue to
evolve and new forms of it will continue to emerge. However, she said
new variants won't necessarily become more dangerous. She addedthat
most of the population has immunity from either the vaccines,
infection, or both, and that will continue to protect most individuals
against the worst outcomes of the disease.
“I think this is where
we are. We're gonna have to live with this [virus] and we're going to
see cases go up and down if we get a new subvariant that's more
transmissible, but hopefully, it will not lead to an increase in severe
disease,” Gandhi said.
Does the new variant cause different symptoms?
On Tuesday, the FDA authorized a second dose of the bivalent booster for seniors and immunocompromised people. (Getty Images)
According to anecdotal reports coming from India and other parts of the world, including the U.S.,
XBB.1.16 may cause a new COVID-19 symptom not seen with previous
coronavirus strains. Some doctors have said the new variant seems to be
causing conjunctivitis, often called pink eye, in children and adolescents.
In a recent tweet,
Vipin M. Vashishtha, an Indian pediatrician who is also a member of the
WHO's Vaccine Safety Net program, said he had started to get pediatric
COVID-19 cases again, and more children who are sick with XBB.1.16 are
experiencing “itchy conjunctivitis with sticky eyes.”
The Mayo Clinic also reported on Thursday that experts are seeing the same eye symptoms in young patients who are sick with COVID-19.
Dr.
Michael Chang, a pediatric infectious diseases expert at UTHealth
Houston and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, told Yahoo News that
many things can cause pink eye. He said that at the moment there’s not
enough evidence to say that the new COVID variant is causing
conjunctivitis in children.
“We don't have the context of whether
they're seeing that in some of the regions in India. We know their COVID
cases are going up, and presumably, these kids are testing positive for
COVID, but we don't know if they're testing positive for anything else
either,” Chang said.
He explained that other viruses can cause
conjunctivitis. Adenovirus, which can cause a mild cold or flu-like
illness and can be easily confused with COVID-19, is one of them. Cases
of adenovirus tend to increase in the spring and summer, and Chang said
doctors in the U.S. are seeing more of it these days.
“We are
seeing adenovirus circulating, so even if COVID cases go up, unless
you're doing testing for both COVID and adenovirus, which most people
aren't … it may be difficult [to determine] what's causing your pink
eye.”
Are our COVID-19 vaccines effective against XBB.1.16?
Some doctors say XBB.1.16 may be causing a new symptom among children: conjunctivitis. (Getty Images)
When
a new variant of the coronavirus emerges, one concern that arises is
whether our current vaccines will protect us against that strain.
It
is too early to know how well the COVID-19 vaccines neutralize
XBB.1.16. However, some experts believe the shots should remain
effective at preventing severe illness and death, even if XBB.1.16 is
found to be able to evade antibodies from vaccines. Gandhi explained
that this is because, aside from antibodies, there are other parts of
the immune system that are activated with vaccination and infection,
such as B cells and T cells, which can also offer long-lasting
protection against the virus.
Although there’s no reason to be
concerned right now, Gandhi said that whenever there’s a new, more
transmissible variant, people who are older and those who are
immunocompromised are at the highest risk for complications. She urged
those groups to stay up to date with vaccination, particularly getting
the bivalent booster if they haven’t received it yet.
“If you're
in an older or vulnerable group, if you are someone who is over 65 or on
immunosuppressants or have multiple comorbidities, just go out and get a
booster,” she said.
On Tuesday, the FDA authorized a second dose of the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine
for seniors and immunocompromised people. The CDC’s Advisory Committee
on Immunization Practices — a group of outside experts who advise the
agency on vaccines — is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the
strategy. If these experts recommend the shots, CDC Director Dr.
Rochelle Walensky is likely to sign off on their use and they could
become available as early as this week.
STATE LEGISLATURES MUST PROTECT PRIVATE PROPERTY FROM CARBON SEIZURE
Guest post by J. Christopher Alexander
In 2020 Louisiana Republican State Senator Sharon Hewitt
authored the passage of legislation in Louisiana that declares that the
practice of “carbon capture and sequestration” (CCS) is a “public good”
as a matter of public policy. As such, private energy companies
may now seize the private property of Louisiana citizens to transport
carbon dioxide that has been “captured” from the atmosphere, eventually
to be stored underground on private land. The general practice is known
as eminent domain and is
based in the last clause of the 5th Amendment of the US Constitution.
The original purpose of eminent domain was to provide a way for the government to expropriate private property, for fair market value, upon a specific showing
that such property is needed to serve a substantial public use or
benefit, such as the construction of a vital water system or a bridge
that facilitates transportation for the general public. The burden of
proof was on the government to show that the proposed expropriation
served a vital public interest and that the property owner was fairly
compensated.
Under Hewitt’s law, however, the use of eminent domain in Louisiana
has been dangerously expanded to not just include, but to favor, private
companies. This means that basic rights private property owners
previously had in opposing the expropriation of their land have been
further eroded. No longer will a specific showing of public necessity be
required, and no longer will the government be required to initiate the
process. The fundamental right of private property is now subordinated,
by law, to broad-scale carbon capture and sequestration by private entities.
To be clear, Louisiana law now contains a presumption in favor of the
corporate seizure of private property and a presumption against private
property rights. This is dangerous and scary.
In response, Louisiana Representative Robby Carter has offered House Bill 10,
which would repeal the eminent domain provision in the current law. If
it passes, private companies would be prohibited from using eminent
domain to acquire property rights for carbon capture processes without
the property owner’s consent. This legislation is critical, as it would
reassert the importance of private property rights and that those rights
may not be subjugated to for-profit entities without the approval of
property owners.
Regardless of how one may feel about the whole carbon capture
enterprise, or about the actual reality of man-caused climate change, we
should all be able to agree that private property is a value that is
worth standing up for in the face of corporate interests whose desire
for profits is thinly concealed behind the façade of protecting the
environment. We are all for profits, and for free enterprise, but not at
the cost of violating a basic American right.
If you live in Louisiana, please contact the following members of the House Natural Resources Committee and urge your strong support for House Bill 10, and follow the legislation all the way through the legislative process, making your voice heard all the way:

NYC’s Vegan Mayor Eric Adams to Limit Amount of Meat People Can Eat to Combat Climate Change
New York City’s vegan mayor Eric Adams wants to limit the amount of meat people can eat in an effort to combat climate change.
Adams wants to reduce food-based gas emissions by 33% in the next 7 years.
“Food is the third-biggest source of cities’ emissions right after
buildings and transportation. But all food is not created equal. The
vast majority of food that is contributing to our emission crises lies
in meat and dairy products,” Adams said.
“According to new data released by the city, 20% of the Big Apple’s
greenhouse gas emissions come from food production and consumption. The
mayor is now vowing to reduce the city’s food-based emissions at
agencies by 33% in the next seven years and challenging the private
sector to follow suit.” CBS New York reported.
The United Nations discreetly issued a report in March encouraging members of the UN to decriminalize sex between minors and adults.
The report is
titled “The 8 March Principles for a Human Rights-Based Approach to
Criminal Law Proscribing Conduct Associated with Sex Reproduction, Drug
Use, HIV, Homelessness and Poverty.”
On page 22 of the report, the UN states, “With respect to the enforcement of criminal law, any prescribed minimum age of consent to sex must be applied in a non-discriminatory manner. Enforcement may not be linked to the sex/gender of participants or age of consent to marriage.”
The report continues, “Moreover, sexual conduct involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact, if not in law.”.
A new report from the United Nations has called for all forms of drug use and sexual activity to be decriminalized globally.
Written by the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), UNAIDS and
the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the report
was released on International Women’s Day, with the goal of guiding
“the application of international human rights law to criminal law.”
Called the “8 March principles,” the report calls for offenses related
to “sex, drug use, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, homelessness and
poverty” to be decriminalized.
The United Nations experts say that criminalizing offenses related to these issues constitute an attack on human rights.

accused of exchanging sex with children for cookies and snacks.
President Joe Biden’s public pronouncements
about the war in Ukraine ring hollow in light of the recently leaked
intelligence documents. Congress and the American people must demand
accountability, truth and not more lies before we are led into another
war or something much worse.
Unfortunately, the
mainstream media have twisted the story about the allegation that a
21-year-old National Guardsman leaked finished intelligence products on
gaming internet sites. They myopically focus on the leaker, his crime
and not on the substance of the leaked material in order to protect
President Joe Biden. However, we need to ask whether the president is
lying about our role in the war in Ukraine, which could have grave
consequences for us all.
The
fact is historically presidents lie to the American people about wars.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940 lied to Americans that "Your
boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars." Besides, at that
time we were providing lethal aid to the United Kingdom. We went to war
after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in December 1941.
President Lyndon
B. Johnson lied about the threat posed by the North Vietnamese to
preserve his political power. In 1964 Johnson told an Akron, Ohio
election campaign crowd, "We are not about to send American boys nine or
10 thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be
doing for themselves."
Then
after being elected, LBJ sent U.S. combat troops to the jungles of
Vietnam, lying to the American people about the attack on US forces in
the Gulf of Tonkin, eventually deploying half a million personnel until
our withdrawal in 1975 with our tail tucked and at the cost of more
than 58,000 American lives.
Video
President George W. Bush lied about the reason we invaded Iraq to eliminate weapons of mass destruction. Before the war, CIA Director George Tenet
warned Bush not to use sketchy intelligence about Iraq. Bush knew
Saddam Hussein no longer had an arsenal of WMD and yet the president
misled the American people, and after the 2003 invasion, officials
confirmed Iraq had abandoned its programs years earlier.
Other
presidents in our history lied to the American people about war: James
Polk lied about Mexico invading the US which led to the Mexican-American
War because he wanted to add Texas as another slave state. William
McKinley lied that the Spanish had blown up the USS Maine warship in
Havana Harbor, which led to the Spanish-American War.
It could be President Biden
is lying about our role in the Ukraine war much as past presidents
lied. Certainly, some of the leaked intelligence suggests the war in
Ukraine isn’t going as swimmingly as Biden and his administration have
suggested.
Video
Unfortunately,
Biden’s apologists in the mainstream media focus on the leaker. That’s
really only a small part of the broader story. If in fact the young
Airman arrested is found guilty of leaking, he will pay a price.
However, the real story is the content of the material shared across the
internet. Does it paint a different story than what the Biden administration has told the American people? Is President Biden lying to the American people and if so, why?
The
fact is many, if not most, of the products shared about the Ukraine war
are finished intelligence reports, which paint a very different picture
from that which the Biden administration broadcasts.
We
should ask: What’s the truth? Is America more directly involved in the
Ukraine war than previously reported? Are American troops fighting
Russians? Is the Biden administration purposely draining our weapons
arsenals to favor the Chinese? Can Ukraine really win the war against giant Russia? There are so many questions left unanswered.
My point is simple. The story about a young Airman leaking finished intelligence products is serious. The Pentagon will
address that issue to protect our methods and sources. However, the
more significant issue is whether President Biden and his proxies are
telling the American people the truth about the Ukraine war. After all,
Biden has never explained our national interests in that war other than
to acknowledge we’re helping to protect Ukrainian "democracy" and to
keep the Russians from gobbling up more of Europe.
Last
year, President Biden soberly promised at a NATO summit "We are going
to stick with Ukraine … as long as it takes to in fact make sure that
they are not defeated … by Russia." That sounds too much like LBJ and the Vietnam war.
The
leaked intelligence documents sound an alarm bell regarding America’s
role in the Ukraine war. It’s past time President Biden level with the
American people about our interests and whether our continued role in
that war could escalate into something much worse.

Cori Bush's campaign paid thousands to her husband for personal security services in recent months

FIRST ON FOX: Rep. Cori Bush's
campaign funneled thousands of dollars to her new husband for private
security services in recent months, records reviewed by Fox News Digital
show.
The Missouri Democrat's committee
pushed $12,500 to her spouse, Cortney Merritts, between January and the
end of March, according to her campaign's newly released filings. During
this time, the 'Squad' member also
moved $26,000 to the St. Louis-based PEACE Security, which hires
several "security operators" with military or law enforcement
experience, despite her opposition to them, their website states.
Bush
has been among Congress' top spenders on private security, which she
said she needs because there have been attempts on her life. Since 2019,
she's dropped more than a half million dollars into the personal
detail, which primarily has gone to PEACE Security.

Bush
and Merritts, meanwhile, tied the knot in February of this year. When
her office confirmed their marriage, they said they had been together
before she took office in 2021 - more than a year before she added him
to her campaign's payroll in January 2022. Last year, he collected
$50,000 from her committee while it simultaneously paid hundreds of
thousands of dollars to a private security firm.
And despite the security payments, Merritts did not have a private security license as of late February, Fox News Digital reported.
Individuals must have a permit to perform security functions in St.
Louis and its neighboring St. Louis County, which encompasses Bush's
entire congressional district.
Merritts also did not appear in a
Washington, D.C. database of licensed security professionals. Bush's
campaign did not respond to several prior emails on the matter.

2022, Bush's now husband collected $50,000 from her campaign while it
paid significant cash to a private security firm.(Photo by Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post via Getty Images)
Bush's security payments became a point of contention after Fox News Digital first reported on them in
July 2021, prompting CBS News to question her about the cash and
whether hiring security was hypocritical while she advocated defunding
the police.
"They would rather I die?" Bush asked. "You would
rather me die? Is that what you want to see? You want to see me die? You
know, because that could be the alternative."
The progressive lawmaker said she would ensure she has security because she has had attempts on her life and has "too much work to do."
"So suck it up, and defunding the police has to happen," she added.
St.
Louis' KMOV4 later discovered that Bush had hired two sheriff's
deputies, Tylance Jackson and Maurice Thompson, as part of her
security.
The discovery led to the termination of Jackson and Thompson, who had failed to get approval for the side gig, St. Louis Sheriff Vernon Betts said at the time.
Bush's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on her husband's new payments.

India
on Friday recorded 11,109 new Covid infections, the biggest jump in
almost a year. The country’s active case count is now up to 49,662.
The XBB.1.16 strain, a sub-variant of Omicron, has been found in 22 countries, including Singapore, Australia, the UK and the US. Research indicates Arcturus could be one 1.2 times more infectious than the last major sub-variant, making it likely to become the dominant strain.
The
spread of the strain, first detected in late January in India, is
worrying experts, as it seems to exhibit unique symptoms in children, one of which is conjunctivitis.
The
symptoms of the variant include high fever, cough, and “itchy”

First Victim Loses Life As Largest Fungal Infection In US History Breaks Out In Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
100 Percent Fed Up – Billerud,
a Swedish company that runs a paper mill in Michigan’s upper peninsula
in the city of Escanaba, announced late Thursday that it intended to
close the plant for three weeks following a fungal infection outbreak.
Billerud
The closure comes about a month after the outbreak started and, according to the company, will allow for deep cleaning.
Billerud said the temporary mill closure was a “precautionary measure,” yet, according to the Daily Mail,
workers complained that Blastomycosis, a fungal infection, was first
diagnosed in February. They also noted that the source of the problem
still needed to be identified. Initially, Billerud told their employees
to wear face masks to keep infection at bay after workers tested
positive, showing they were suffering from a blastomycosis outbreak. The
first positive cases were discovered in early March.
Face masks were ineffective at stifling the outbreak, and the numbers
rose to 21 confirmed cases and an additional 76 probable cases by the
second week of April, According to Delta and Menominee Counties public
health officials. The health department also confirmed Friday that the
first death resulting from the fungal infection had occurred.
Local health officer Michael Snyder, who is employed at the health department, said:
“We were saddened to hear this news. Our heartfelt
sympathies and prayers go out to the family, friends, and coworkers who
have lost their loved one.”
Billerud Operations vice president at the mill, Brian Peterson, also added his condolences saying:
“Everyone at Billerud is deeply saddened by this news.
Anyone who works at our facility is part of our team, and we are keeping
this individual, their family, coworkers, and friends in our thoughts
and close to our hearts.”
The Michigan paper mill looks to be the epicenter of what could be one of the largest fungal outbreaks in US history.
The name of the person who passed away has not yet been released, but it
was a contractor at the mill who died from infection. Currently, twelve
people have had to be hospitalized, and close to 100 more are suspected
of having cases.
After confirming the death Friday, officials said they were ‘deeply
saddened’ by the fatality and expressed their ‘heartfelt sympathies’ for
the family. The cases are confined to only those who work at the mill
or who have visited the site. There are no cases in the larger
community.
Luxury lingerie brand Honey Birdette bills the company as created ‘by women, for women.”
Taking a page out of the Bud Light marketing plan, which led to a
nationwide boycott resulting in the reported loss of reportedly over $7 billion in market cap value in recent days, Birdette “celebrated” women by putting a biological man in lingerie in a recent ad.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Birdette featured a male model in
their new “RUBY” 3-piece lingerie set. Model Jake DuPree poses in a red
bra, panties, and red matching stockings. The caption reads, “Red
curtain moment! @jakedupree stars in the RUBY 3 piece set.”
Why a biological male is wearing a bra, with no breasts to support, is anyones guess.
It said, “UPDATE: Honey Birdette fosters an inclusive and
diverse environment, and we will continue to use our voice to empower
and support the LGBTQ+ community, women, and anyone who wants to feel fabulous in our lingerie.”
It also included a warning for those who don’t approve of the male
wearing women’s underwear, stating, “While thoughtful and constructive
discussions are important to push culture forward, hate speech and
bullying will not be tolerated on our channels. Comments of this
negative nature will be deleted.”
The group also added a message of support for the male model, saying,
“@jakedupree, you are so talented and have our full support!”
Biden takes selfie with Irish nationalist Gerry Adams, who was public face of IRA terror group Gerry Adams was president of Sinn Fein between 1983 and 2018
President Biden,
during his visit to Ireland this week, took a selfie with a
controversial Irish nationalist who had once been banned from British
airwaves due to his role as the public face of the Irish Republican
Army.
Gerry Adams, who is a former leader of Irish republican party Sinn Fein, took a selfie with Biden on Thursday.
"A presidential selfie," he tweeted.
Adams was president of Sinn Fein between 1983 and 2018. During the
height of the IRA’s terrorist bombing campaign in the 1980s and 1990s,
as part of its efforts to end British control over Northern Ireland,
Sinn Fein acted as the political wing of the IRA.

Adams
has always denied membership in the IRA itself, although he has
continued to face allegations that he was involved in its terrorist
activities. Adams was one of a number of Irish republican officials who
were banned from British airwaves by the government of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Adams
ultimately played a key role in moving Sinn Fein away from the IRA and
helped secure the Good Friday agreement -- which largely brought an end
to the terror campaign. He was later arrested in 2014 in connection with
a 1972 murder, but was not charged.
Biden has a lengthy history
with Adams. The pair have been photographed together before, and Biden
was one of a number of senators who reportedly angered the British in
the 90s by arguing publicly for Adams to be allowed into the U.S.
The
Daily Telegraph reported that Biden wanted Adams to be given a visa in
1994, arguing it would bring him into the ongoing peace process, but
that then-Prime Minister John Major’s government were angered by the
move -- who did not want him to receive prestige and credibility.
Documents obtained by the Telegraph showed that President Bill Clinton’s ultimate decision
to grant Adams the visa left Major so angry he was not able to speak to
his American counterpart until he was "in a calmer mood."

Biden, who had once argued against the extradition of IRA terror suspects to face trial in Britain, has faced accusations of being anti-British and those accusations appeared during the Irish trip.Democratic Unionist Party Leader Arlene Foster said this week on GB News that Biden "hates the United Kingdom, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that."
The White House rejected that claim, describing the president’s track record as showing "that he is not anti-British."
"The
president has been very actively engaged throughout his career dating
back to when he was a senator in the peace process in Northern Ireland
and that has involved meetings with leaders of all of Northern Ireland
parties from both of the two main communities," Senior Director for
Europe at the National Security Council Amanda Sloat said in a press
conference. "The UK remains one of our strongest and closest allies and
it's difficult, frankly, to think of an issue in the world that we are
not closely cooperating with the British on."

Denver Area High School Closes After Deaths of Three Teachers – Causes of Death are Still Pending
This week, a high school in the Denver area was forced to close after the death of three teachers, USA Today reported.
After the deaths of 24-year-old Madelaine Michelle Schmidt and
63-year-old Judith Briere Geoffroy, authorities at Eaglecrest High
School in Aurora canceled all after-school events and classes for
Wednesday.
“It is with great sadness that we share with you that Judith
Geoffroy, ILC para, and Maddie Schmidt, ILC teacher, both passed away in
the last 24 hours,” the district released in a statement. “These tragic
deaths appear to be of natural causes and are unrelated. We have shared
these losses with our staff and will have the district mental health
team available to assist them in coping with their grief.”
According to Arapahoe County Corner’s Office, Schmidt experienced symptoms of bacterial meningitis before her death.
Read the release below:
An individual at Eaglecrest High School has been diagnosed with Neisseria meningitidis,
a bacterial infection of the blood that can cause meningitis.
Meningitis is a serious infection involving the lining around the brain
and spinal cord. The symptoms can include severe headache, stiff neck,
fever, chills, sleepiness, rash, nausea, vomiting, and being
disoriented.
The bacteria are in saliva and may be spread from person
to person through sharing food, beverages, eating utensils, or by
kissing. Being in the same room or standing near the infected person is
not considered extended close contact or a risk factor for infection.
Symptoms of Neisseria meningitidis can develop 1-10 days following
extended close contact (most commonly within 3-4 days).
Arapaho County Public Health and Eaglecrest High School
are identifying and contacting persons who have been in close contact
with the individual. These persons will be directed to contact their
health care providers regarding appropriate intervention to prevent the
spread of, or development of, the disease. However, if your child has
any of the above symptoms, please contact your doctor immediately and
bring this letter with you to any appointments or medical visits.
Arapahoe County Corner’s Office also suggested that Judith Briere Geoffroy experienced symptoms of bacterial meningitis.
USA Today reported:
Another teacher who worked with Schmidt at the
same school also died over the weekend, Kelly C. Lear, a pathologist
with the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office, confirmed.
Judith Geoffroy, a 63-year-old paraprofessional in
the Integrated Learning Center, died but her official cause of death
had not been confirmed according to a statement released Wednesday.
Lear said both the bodies of Geoffroy and Schmidt will undergo additional tests in the coming days.
“The causes of their deaths are pending ancillary
testing; the presence or absence of bacterial meningitis will not be
confirmed until those additional test results are final,” Lear wrote in
the statement.
A third teacher in the school district also died over the weekend, but worked at a different school, Snell said.
Cherry Creek High School freshman baseball coach
and Willow Creek Elementary Physical Education teacher Scott Nash passed
away over the weekend.
“His death is an unrelated case and is not related to bacterial meningitis,” Snell said.“His death is an unrelated case and is not related to bacterial meningitis,” Snell said.
