Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have been looking towards the future months before announcing their plans to step back from the royal family.
While attending the London premiere of The Lion King in July 2019, Harry, 35 had a brief conversation with Disney CEO Bob Iger that seemed to involve the possibility of lining up some future work for the former Suits actress, 38. “You know she does voiceovers,” Harry can be heard saying in a video of the encounter, as Iger replies, “Oh, really?”
“Did you know that?” Harry says. “You seem surprised.”
Gesturing towards Meghan, who was speaking with Beyoncé and JAY-Z several feet away, Harry can be heard saying, “She’s really interested.”
“Sure,” Iger replies, according to the video. “We’d love to try.”
The video resurfaced over the weekend, after it was reported that Meghan had signed a voiceover deal with Disney, benefitting conservation charity Elephants Without Borders.
According to the U.K. outlet The Sunday Times, the deal was signed before Meghan and Harry’s bombshell announcement.
Disney has yet to comment on the report. RELATED: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Could Make ‘Hundreds of Millions’ Post Royal Exit: Expert
When Harry and Meghan announced their plans to “step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family” last Wednesday, they revealed plans to “carve out a progressive new role within this institution.”
In addition to working to “becoming financially independent,” the couple also shared their intention to “balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America.”
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they wrote. It is likely the Duchess of Sussex will participate via phone if it happens within the right timeframe, bearing in mind that she is currently in Vancouver Island, Canada. RELATED: Prince William Tells Pal of His ‘Sadness’ That He and Prince Harry Are ‘Separate Entities’
The high-level meeting raises the prospect that a conclusion is in sight to the unprecedented talks to find a solution that works for the Sussexes and the family.
“As we have said previously, making a change to the working life and role of the monarchy for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex requires complex and thoughtful discussions. Next steps will be agreed at the meeting,” the source shared. “The request for this to be resolved ‘at pace’ is still Her Majesty’s wish. The aim remains days not weeks. There is genuine agreement and understanding that any decision will take time to be implemented.”
The source would not be drawn on the timing of Monday’s meeting or whether it was in order to conclude the talks and come to a final agreement, saying, “there is a range of possibilities for the family to review.”
The Duke of Sussex will come face-to-face with the Queen on Monday amid Buckingham Palace fears that he and his wife could go public with damaging accusations about the family if they do not get what they want.
As the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge join forces to confront the Duke, 35, for the first time since he announced plans to walk away from his role, the threat of a “no-holds barred” television interview loomed large.
The crisis summit taking place at Sandringham is expected to last several hours as the family combs through the various scenarios that could form a blueprint for the Sussex’s “progressive” new roles.
Prince Charles was due to travel back from Oman on Sunday night for the family summit having flown out to attend a condolence ceremony following the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said.
The Queen has made it clear she wants the “Sussex situation” as it has become known, resolved within days to prevent further damage to the monarchy.
The Duke of Edinburgh, 98, is said to have been left “deeply hurt” by his grandson’s decisions and is angry at their “lack of respect”.
A blueprint for the Sussex’s “progressive” new roles will be thrashed out at Sandringham Credit: Reuters/ReutersThe Duke is “with the Queen at Sandringham and supporting her” a royal source said, although he is not expected to take part in the summit. The Duchess of Sussex is expected to dial in from Canada.
Buckingham Palace aides fear the Duke and Duchess, 38, could prove problematic for the institution if they are allowed to cut loose and are not kept on side.
Tom Bradby, the ITV journalist and a friend of both Prince William and Prince Harry, warned on Sunday that the Sussexes were considering a set-piece television interview in which they reveal their reasons for stepping back from the family.
"I have some idea of what might be aired in a full, no-holds-barred sit down interview and I don't think it would be pretty,” he wrote in the Sunday Times.
While Bradby did not expand on the concerns the couple could voice, courtiers fear they might brand the royal household racist and sexist.
A royal source said there was "concern" behind palace gates about an interview that was beyond the press office's control.
"Just look at what happened with the Duke of York on Newsnight,” they said.
The Duke of Cambridge, who was said to have been upset when his brother appeared to confirm rumours of their rift in an interview with Bradby last year, is said to be particularly concerned that the couple may be planning to "sound off".
"That's why these negotiations are so delicate,” the source added. “The last thing the royals want is any acrimony making it onto the airwaves in a way the palace can't control".
Other royal insiders have suggested the Sussexes are preparing to reveal more about the “challenges” they have faced through friends and sources in the coming weeks.
Separately, one of the Army’s most senior former officers today urges the Duke of Sussex to "put Queen and country first", while James Glancy, a former Captain in the Royal Marines Special Boat Service, said he and many military colleagues would not raise a toast to the Duke, who is their Captain General, if he tried to earn money from his royal position with commercial ventures.
With the cost of security set to be one of the biggest sticking points of the Sandringham discussions, Emily Thornberry, the shadow foreign secretary, also insisted that the British taxpayer should continue to fund it because the Duke “has done great service” as an Army officer.
The Queen put on a brave face as she attended church on the Norfolk estate yesterday. Dressed in a camel-coloured coat and hat, and wearing a hearing aid, she waved to the crowds as she arrived by car.
Asked how the 93-year-old monarch was, her grandson, Peter Phillips, 42, briefly hesitated before telling onlookers: “Alright.
Meghan has made a FOOL out of the whole ROYAL FAMILY. She will always be taken care of because of the child. YOU BUNCH OF FOOLS !!!
Don't you DARE accuse the British people of being racist.... they criticized the woman NOT THE RACE. They welcomed her and she didn't like rules or traditions. She wants the "Title" not the responsibility ! She is laughing at ALL of YOU. Tell the story right. What a huge slap in the face to the Royal family that "cared for both of them". The "PEOPLE" welcomed her and she just made a fool out of ALL OF YOU. Don't tell me that this was not planned from the beginning. Do you really think that Harry would think about copyrighting their name? Hell NO... that was Meg all along. Go AWAY...... you're an embarrassment to everyone. .

Choices were made along strongly political lines: GettyNobody is as admired as much by Americans as Barack Obama, except that is Donald Trump. A poll
that suggested a starkly divided nation, found the current and former
presidents tying for the title of America’s most admired man.
Underscoring
the divide was the fact the split was almost entirely along party
lines, with 45 per cent of Republicans opting for Mr Trump and 41 of
Democrats selecting his predecessor at the White House.
Meanwhile,
former first lady Michelle Obama was the most admired woman among
Americans, securing 10 per cent of votes, with current first lady
Melania Trump being selected by 5 per of respondents and coming second.
“Each
year since 1948, Gallup has asked Americans to name, in an open-ended
fashion, which man and woman living anywhere in the world they admire
most. This year’s results are based on a December 2-15 poll,” said the
polling company.
It added: “Americans’ choice for most admired man this year is sharply divided along party lines.”
After
Mr Trump and Mr Obama, who was ranked in first place for the 12th
consecutive year, former president Jimmy Carter and Tesla CEO Elon Musk,
were tied for third place, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
Pope
Francis, senator Bernie Sanders, House Intelligence Committee chairman
Adam Schiff, the Dalai Lama and billionaire investor Warren Buffet were
also in the top ten.
Among women, teenage climate activist was
among the most top five most admired, along with former Democratic
presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
“The
remainder of the top 10 for women includes Britain’s Queen Elizabeth,
House speaker Nancy Pelosi, Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg,
Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren, German chancellor Angela Merkel
and former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley,” said
Gallup.
It added: “Queen Elizabeth finished in the top 10 for the 51st time, more than any other woman.”
Donald Trump Ties Barack Obama as Most Admired Man of 2019 in New Gallup Poll
Scroll back up to restore default view.
For
the first time ever, President Donald Trump tied with his predecessor,
Barack Obama, as the most admired man in America this year, according to
the annual poll from Gallup. 2019 marks Obama’s 12th year at the top of the list, tying him with former president Dwight Eisenhower.
Trump
has never before topped the list, which is compiled by asking Americans
to name which living man and woman they admire most. The question is
open-ended.
Overall, both the 44th and 45th president were the
most admired man alive for 18% of American adults. The split along each
man’s 18% followed party lines: 41% of Democrats chose Obama and 45% of
Republicans chose Trump.
Others who were named this year include
Tesla founder Elon Musk, former president Jimmy Carter and Vermont
senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. No other man besides
Trump and Obama was mentioned by more than 2% of respondents.
According
to Gallup, the incumbent U.S. president is usually the choice for
America’s most admired living man. Out of 72 prior polls, the incumbent
president has earned the distinction 58 times.
“When the incumbent
president is not the choice, it is usually because he is unpopular
politically,” Gallup noted, “which was the case for Trump in 2017 (36%
approval rating) and 2018 (40%).”
Trump’s approval rating in 2019 is up to 45%.
Former
first lady Michelle Obama topped the survey of America’s most admired
woman with 10% of the vote, down from 15% in 2018. Melania Trump
finished second with 5%, followed by a three-way tie between Hillary
Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and teen climate-change activist Greta Thunberg,
each with 3%.
He has a point. You can celebrate black history month but you will never see a white history month because that would be racist.

Nearly 6 million people are off food stamps since Trump took office
More than 5.9 million individuals have dropped off foods stamps since 2017 according to the USDA.

Kyle Waide visited the Atlanta community food bank recently, where he
is CEO, he ran into a woman who had recently lost her administrative job
at a university. She was looking for work, she told him, but it was
hard to find. She was struggling to get by. Related: Trump impeachment: Pelosi condemns McConnell as 'rogue leader in the Senate' – live
Though
she had food stamp benefits, she still needed to visit Waide’s food
bank until she landed a new job, she added, because she had a home and a
child to pay for. With her job gone, she said, she needed all the extra
help she could get to feed her family.
Thousands in Atlanta like her are already struggling to make ends meet, even before the Trump administration scales back benefits to low-income Americans
to the supplemental nutrition assistance program (Snap) as food stamps
are known. Approximately 700,000 Americans will soon lose their benefits
as the government tightens the regulations around stable work
requirements for recipients, stretching the already scarce resources of
the communities that Waide’s operation helps.
Those communities
are often African American, raising the prospect that Trump’s move will
put extra stress on minority families. Approximately one in three households
using Snap benefits are African American. In general, African American
households are more likely to experience food insecurity, according to
the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. In 2016, Snap helped more
than 13 million African American households put food on the table,
according to data from the US agriculture department’s fiscal year 2016
Snap Households Characteristic data.
Waide stresses the importance
of Snap even as his food bank provides more than 63m meals to more than
750,000 Georgians annually. Snap, he says, provides 12 times the amount
of assistance that food banks do nationwide.
“[Snap] is a very
important source of nutrition for families, kids and seniors in our
community,” he says. Annually, the food bank helps 10,000 residents of
the state enroll for or renew Snap benefits.
Alex Camardelle,
senior policy analyst at the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, says
many of the 100,000 Georgians who are thought to be affected by the
coming change will be African American.
“We’re concerned that high
levels of unemployment in certain areas of the state, despite an
overall improvement in the unemployment numbers, is going to
disproportionately impact black Georgians,” he says.
Black
Georgians, he adds, have an unemployment rate in the state that could be
triple that of white residents, often because of additional barriers
they face, like where they live, access to transportation and the
difficulty of finding a job in a mandated period of time.
Waide
echoes the sentiment. “Poverty and hunger disproportionately affect
people of color. These are going to be low-income folks in rural
communities who are economically vulnerable by definition,” he said.
“When they can’t eat, they can’t get over other hurdles.”
Rural
households experience more struggle with food security, according to the
Food Research and Action Center, compared with households in metro
areas. Food insecurity is also twice as high among African American
households compared with white households, in rural communities or not.
The
average Georgian on Snap benefits remains approximately eight months
before cycling out of the program as they get back to some sort of
stability, Waide explains, just as the program intends. The myth of
anyone perpetually staying on government benefits just is not true, he
says.
When the change to the work requirement takes place in April
next year, Waide is confident the food bank will see a high demand to
try to make up for the shortfall.
Last year, he points out, his
food bank stepped in when a government shutdown left thousands of
federal workers in Atlanta without pay.
“We mobilized our network
and donors to distribute hundreds of thousands of meals. And we’ll do
the same here, this time,” he said.

A
17-year-old was arrested over the unsuccessful theft of a $2 million
private plane, which crashed into an airport building in Fresno,
California.
According to airport officials, the unnamed
teen jumped the airfield around dawn, got into the plane and started one
of the King Air 200's twin engines.
The plane made it across a runway before crashing into an airport building, which was badly damaged.
Police say they found the girl confused and uncooperative, but not injured.
A
17-year-old girl was arrested after police say she stole a private
plane, drove it along a runway, then crashed it at a California airport.
Security footage taken at Fresno Yosemite International Airport on Wednesday, and broadcast by local news station ABC30, shows the aircraft, a King Air 200 plane, veering across the runway then hitting a building.
Airport spokeswoman Vikkie Calderon told The Fresno Bee
that the perpetrator jumped the airport fence, got into the plane, put
on the pilot's headset, and started one of its two engines.
The
girl then drove the plane erratically around the runway before crashing
it into a building, causing "substantial damage," Calderon said.
No passengers were on the plane and no injuries were reported.
"No
passengers or commercial airlines were ever at risk in this incident,"
Calderon said. "The motive is still under investigation but there is no
indication of any ties to domestic terrorism."
The police were
called and arrested the girl at around 7:30 a.m, Calderon said. Officers
found the girl "disoriented" and "uncooperative."

The
kidnapping of 16-year-old Karol Sanchez has taken an unexpected turn as
sources tell PEOPLE the young girl may have staged the abduction.
One
source tells PEOPLE it’s “looking like she staged” the incident and
that Sanchez may have been upset about an upcoming move to South
America.
A second source reveals police are investigating “the possibility” that the abduction was staged.
Sanchez reportedly made the shocking confession to police when questioned by officers from the 40th Precinct, according to CBS New York and The New York Times, after being found safe and unharmed at a Bronx park in New York City on Tuesday.
Sanchez allegedly devised the hoax because of a difficult relationship with her mother, a police official told The New York Times.
CBS New York reported that Sanchez was “unhappy” and was trying to get away from “overprotective” mother.
At this time, an investigation into the incident remains ongoing and it is not clear if Sanchez will face charges.
The
New York Police Department would not confirm if the department believes
the kidnapping was staged but said the investigation is continuing.
A spokesperson for the family could not be identified at this time.
Sanchez’s
story captivated the city and prompted an Amber Alert after the NYPD
released harrowing surveillance footage, showing the young girl
appearing to be kidnapped right off the street — all while her mother
tries to fend off the abductors.
She’s
alive! Karol Sanchez was just dropped at a park near where she was

— Kemberly Richardson (@kemrichardson7) December 17, 2019
The
alleged kidnapping unfolded within seconds and happened as Sanchez and
her mother were walking on the sidewalk of a Bronx street.
Sanchez’s mother can be seen in the footage fighting with at least one man, who forcefully shoves her backward at one point.
Witnesses told CBS New York that Sanchez’s mother was visibly distressed following the incident.
“She
was just screaming ‘My daughter, my daughter, my God someone please
help me.’ She was screaming hysterically. And I was looking, wondering
what was going on. She was just screaming in the street,” the witness
explained.
Tuesday
afternoon, just after news broke that Sanchez had been found,
journalist Kimberly Richardson tweeted a video clip of the teen’s
“emotional reunion” with her mother.
Police are actively looking for four male accomplices, CBS New York reported.

History Made at Miss World! Black Women Are Now the Reigning Queens of the Top 5 Beauty Pageants
History was made yet again in the pageant world over the weekend.
On
Saturday, Toni-Ann Singh from St. Thomas, Jamaica was crowned Miss
World 2019 in London — becoming the fifth black woman to currently hold a
top pageant queen title.
The accomplishment marks the first time
in pageant world history that all five major titles — Miss America, Miss
USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe, and now Miss World — have been held
by black women.
It also comes just one week after Zozibini Tunzi made history
when she was crowned Miss Universe, joining Miss America Nia Franklin,
Miss USA Cheslie Kryst, and Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris.
Shortly
after being crowned, Singh — a 23-year-old aspiring doctor — opened up
about the moment on Instagram and emphasized how her Miss World win
would hopefully impact little girls around the world.
“My Jamaica, sweet Jamaica🇯🇲we did it! Wah we seh? LIKKLE BUT WE TALLAWAH. My heart is filled with love and gratitude,” she wrote beside a photo of herself with a crown and Miss World sash.
“Thank you so much for believing in me. You pushed me to believe in
myself. I am not only honored but humbled to be the 69th Miss World.”
“To
that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the
world – please believe in yourself,” Singh continued. “Please know that
you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams.
This crown is not
mine but yours. It’s for you to truly understand that no matter where
you’re from and the cards you’re dealt in life – your dreams are valid.
You have a PURPOSE.”
Finishing, Singh vowed to represent the Miss
World title to the best of her ability. “To the @missworld franchise – I
am willing and ready to do the work; to officially be the face that
represents the core of Miss World – Beauty with a Purpose,” she wrote.
Singh’s history-making moment was met by praise from tons of people on social media, including Sen. Kamala Harris, who congratulated the five women on Twitter.
“Showing
the nation and the world what we’re capable of. This isn’t just magic:
their commitment and dedication exemplifies Black excellence,” Harris tweeted.
It was also a hot topic on Twitter after Miss Nigeria Nyekachi Douglas went viral for her genuine reaction to Singh’s win.
In a sweet moment, which was captured by a Twitter user and
retweeted on Douglas’ account, Miss Nigeria began screaming and jumping
up and down in excitement right after her friend was announced as the
new Miss World.
Despite losing the crown, Douglas couldn’t help but beam with pride for Singh, who stood on stage stunned and clearly emotional.
It
has not been lost on the pageant queens just how special their
accomplishment are, as three of the then-history-making four recently
discussed their crownings on Good Morning America.
“It’s
such a great move forward as the world and as a society to say, ‘Look,
women who were in the past [who] never had opportunities to do things
like this are now here,'” Tunzi, 26, said on GMA alongside Kryst and Garris.
“[I’ve had] mothers who say, ‘My 4-year-old daughter was so excited to see you on stage and she kept on screaming, You look like me! She looks like me!‘ ” she added.
“People
will comment on our social media and be like, ‘Why are we talking about
your race? You guys are just four amazing women,'” Kryst, 28, pointed
out. “And I’m like, ‘Yes, we are four amazing women, but there was a
time when we literally could not win!'”
